Keeping your iPhone 5 charged while streaming on the go

If you’re anything like us, you’ll be traveling someplace or another in the next few weeks, and your iPhone will be your copilot.  Streaming audio from Pandora, Soundcloud, and  Spotify playlists (like this one, for example) always have something new to hear, which can really take the edge off of those “Are we there yet” moments.  Streaming video over wifi will make those fast food pitstops bearable.  GPS will make sure you don’t drive into the river or get lost in the woods.

Of course, there’s one major downside to all this streaming and data: more data use equals shorter battery life, and the last thing you need is for your iPhone to die right in the middle of the eleventh day of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”.  To make sure you get the most out of your iPhone’s battery life, turn off any networking doo dads you’re not using.  Go to Settings and switch Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to OFF.  Also, if you’re not using it for maps, you can switch off Location Services. You’ll find that in Settings under Privacy.  If these are all switched off, you can add hours to your battery life.

Finally, you’ll want to have a phone charger handy for when you go into the red.  If you’ll pardon the shameless plug,  we just happen to have the perfect solution:  PowerJolt SE with Lightning connector will keep your iPhone 5 topped off all the way to your destination, and you can leave your Lightning cable packed.

Follow these tips, and you’ll be rocking and rolling all the way to grandmother’s house.
