Griffin Buzz

Feb 1, 2012 New year, new voices.

Back in December, we told you about some upcoming changes in our blog.  In the next few weeks, you’ll begin to see some of those changes.  We’re really excited about what the updated blog will allow us to share with you (and vice versa). You may remember that we took a little bit of our new digs to CES this year.  We were blown away by the response we got.  So, we’re going to bring some of that personality to our online presence.

NEW YEAR, NEW VOICES

We’ve made a big deal out of our Nashville home.

More great photos of our booth at CES and the people who made it awesome

The energy, vitality and creativity that have lead to so much of American music’s being created within 10 miles of our offices is reflected in more than 200 Griffinites who work in Nashville or our offices around the world.  We want you to hear from them.

We’ll be introducing a chorus of new voices (yeah, sorry, the bad music metaphors just write themselves sometimes) in the coming weeks.  We’re going to share some of the massive tech wisdom that’s been building in Tech Support for the last twenty years (their wiki is an awesome thing to behold, though rumors of its sentience are somewhat exaggerated).  The conversation gets pretty interesting around here and we’d like you to join in.

The social media landscape is changing fast.  And Griffin’s changing with it.  Since launching back in 2008, we’ve blurred the lines between content, tech support and outreach … the whole task of social media is becoming more widely distributed through the company.  We’ll be introducing a new curator for our online presence and a host of new contributors in the upcoming days.

We’re proud of the vibrant online community we’ve created over the past few years.  And we’re looking forward to what the new year will bring. We hope you like what you hear.

UPDATED

Aaaaaaand scene.  Thanks for entering.  Our CES 2012 iPhone Case Giveaway is now closed.  Our crack team of sweepstakes-related accountants is hard at work drawing names of the 20 winners.  We’ll be back shortly.

We realize not everyone could attend CES this year. It’s pretty amazing to think that 153,000 people did. Did you see all of our new product announcements and photos?

To celebrate the show, we created an exclusive CES 2012 iPhone 4 case made from actual 45 vinyl records for visitors to our booth.

We feel badly that our friends back home didn’t get a chance to get one, so we’ve tracked down 20 extras to give away. Just fill out the form below for a chance to win.

It’s strange to think that CES is over for another year. Most of us have fully recovered from a week in Las Vegas, working at the largest consumer electronics trade show. Together with 153,000 fellow exhibitors and attendees, we made this CES the best one yet. We even brought home a few awards!

Twenty Audio Amplifier for Airport Express wins Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Award at CESTwenty received the Popular Mechanics Editor’s Choice Award. They wrote:

The Griffin Twenty streaming audio device turns any Apple AirPort Express into a stereo system. The machine has a simple and elegant design, just a plug for the AirPort Express and a large, friendly white dial for volume. As its name implies, the Twenty has an internal 20-watt amplifier and outputs for left and right stereo speakers, plus a subwoofer. The concept is that the dial controls the volume, while the rest of the interface is taken care of through your iPhone, iPad or computer.

iLounge Best of Show CES 2012StudioConnect took home the Best of Show Award from iLounge

Thanks to Apple’s GarageBand, the iPad is a viable professional audio recording device, and the $150 StudioConnect expands it dramatically. MIDI in and out ports, mic, headphone, and stereo audio-out ports, plus an iPad dock and wall charger, all in a gorgeous, blue-glowing design.

Our CES 2012 booth won the Best of Show Award from iLounge

While there are many eye-catching booths in the iLounge Pavilion at CES, the most impressive is Griffin’s, which uses a homey, rustic design that feels true to the company’s Tennessee roots while thoughtfully spotlighting its wide array of new products. Refinished antiques contrast with the modern devices, a look that works wonderfully here.

Here’s a quick video tour I shot. You’ll also find lots of photos of our CES booth and more from CES 2012 on our Flickr page.

Were you at CES? What new product has you most excited?

Jan 10, 2012 Kiosk for iPad

Have you noticed how many small retail businesses are using iPads now? I can automatically think of several restaurants in our area of Nashville who have an iPad set up at their cash register. It’s businesses like these who need our secure display, Kiosk for iPad.

Our attractive Kiosk provides protection and security while maintaining access to the iPad tablet’s Multi-Touch display. The iPad is locked in place by an impact-resistant ABS plastic frame and included security screws. Additionally, the Kiosk has a high-strength, flexible joint giving users the freedom to adjust the angle for optimal viewing and returns the iPad to an upright, centered position when finished.Kiosk for iPad

Kiosk for iPad also provides protection for the included power cable by completely enclosing the dock connector and routing all cabling through the center of the steel arm. The Kiosk’s base bolts to the floor or table top with included hardware, for a complete, secure solution.

Kiosk for iPadThree faceplates come standard for optional access to the home button and camera. The Kiosk displays an iPad or iPad 2 in portrait or landscape orientation, and is available in two height options: Floor Mount (50″ to center of iPad, $299), or Table Mount (12″ to center of iPad, $199). Kiosk for iPad will be available this March as part of our business solutions offerings.
