Griffin Buzz

Hey, everyone.  Mike from Customer Support here.

If you love HELO TC as much as we do, you know how heartbreaking crashes can be, and since HELO TC uses audio signals from the app to control the craft, any interruption can result in disaster.  You’re already putting your device into Airplane Mode to prevent phone calls, texts, and other interruptions from sending your copter into a tailspin, but here’s one more tip to keep your HELO flying:

If your iOS device’s battery starts to run low, you’ll get a pop-up letting you know that your battery is at less than 20%.  If this message comes up while your flying your HELO TC, it will interrupt the audio signal from the HELO TC app and the next thing you know . . . death from above.  To keep this from happening, make sure you’ve charged your iOS device all the way up before you start flying.

How to create keyboard shortcuts on iPhone and iPadDid you know that you can easily make typing shortcuts in iOS 5?

Nghia Huynh submitted this great tip. We’re going to send Nghia something lovely for submitting it. If you have a tip, you should share it here too.

Nghia writes that you should go to…

Settings > General > Keyboard > Shortcuts to see what’s there or ‘Add New Shortcut…’ Your next step is just type a phrase and your shortcut keys. Works great for email, popular URLs, names, etc.

This works great for April Fool’s Day too, but you didn’t hear that from me. ;)

Submit your tip today. If you’re selected, we’ll send you something amazing too.

I’ve become a great fan of the helpful site, If This Then That or iftt. As the site explains…

Put the internet to work for you by creating tasks that fit this simple structure. Think of all the things you could do if you were able to define any task as: when something happens (this) then do something else (that).

In just one year users of iftt have created nearly half a million unique tasks.

One simple task that you’ll love will alert you by email every time a new book is added to the Kindle Top 100 Free eBooks. You’ll never need a book to read again!

Head over to ifttt and create a free account. Then click the link above to set up your free eBook alerts. Let me know what other tasks you find helpful.

Jan 3, 2012 iOS 5 camera tip

Camera appHere’s a handy photography tip to quickly access your photos from the Camera app.

Fahan Firouzian writes:

When you are on the camera on iPhone or iPad on ios5 software you can just swipe left right and you can see all your pictures.

This tip is especially handy if you want to review a photo of people posing for you. You can check the photo quickly before requesting they pose for another one (perhaps one with both eyes open).

Thanks for the tip Fahan. We’ll be sending you a great Griffin product for taking the time to submit it.

Do you have a tip? Please share it here. If we use yours, we’ll send you something cool too.

Speaking of photography, let’s connect on Instagram!

How to scrub a song, video or podcast on your iPhone, iPod or iPadDid you know that you can easily find an exact second of a song, podcast or movie on your iPhone, iPad or iPod?

Our customer, Sam Junge, recently submitted this great tip for our blog.

When in an app that has a time scroll at the top such as the time of a song playing or a movie, if you tap and hold the scroll button while sliding you finger downwards it takes you to medium and high speed scrubbing which means moving by 1-2 seconds instead of 10-15 which is great for finding your favorite part of a song or movie line.

Thanks Sam! We’ll be sending you something cool for submitting this great tip.

If you have a tip be sure to submit it. If we use it, we’ll be sending you a great Griffin product too.
