Griffin Buzz

It’s strange to think that CES is over for another year. Most of us have fully recovered from a week in Las Vegas, working at the largest consumer electronics trade show. Together with 153,000 fellow exhibitors and attendees, we made this CES the best one yet. We even brought home a few awards!

Twenty Audio Amplifier for Airport Express wins Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Award at CESTwenty received the Popular Mechanics Editor’s Choice Award. They wrote:

The Griffin Twenty streaming audio device turns any Apple AirPort Express into a stereo system. The machine has a simple and elegant design, just a plug for the AirPort Express and a large, friendly white dial for volume. As its name implies, the Twenty has an internal 20-watt amplifier and outputs for left and right stereo speakers, plus a subwoofer. The concept is that the dial controls the volume, while the rest of the interface is taken care of through your iPhone, iPad or computer.

iLounge Best of Show CES 2012StudioConnect took home the Best of Show Award from iLounge

Thanks to Apple’s GarageBand, the iPad is a viable professional audio recording device, and the $150 StudioConnect expands it dramatically. MIDI in and out ports, mic, headphone, and stereo audio-out ports, plus an iPad dock and wall charger, all in a gorgeous, blue-glowing design.

Our CES 2012 booth won the Best of Show Award from iLounge

While there are many eye-catching booths in the iLounge Pavilion at CES, the most impressive is Griffin’s, which uses a homey, rustic design that feels true to the company’s Tennessee roots while thoughtfully spotlighting its wide array of new products. Refinished antiques contrast with the modern devices, a look that works wonderfully here.

Here’s a quick video tour I shot. You’ll also find lots of photos of our CES booth and more from CES 2012 on our Flickr page.

Were you at CES? What new product has you most excited?

Beacon is the best iPhone remoteBeacon is the best iPhone remote

According to Gizmodo, Beacon is the best universal iPhone remote (we think so too).

Back in June, Gizmodo wrote a post entitled, Will Griffin’s Beacon iPhone Universal Remote Be the First to Not Suck? Casey Chan wrote that Gizmodo had more faith in us, because we’ve “made excellent Apple accessories over the years. Griffin understands Apple products.”

Casey followed up with a new post in July that we loved the title of, Griffin Beacon Universal Remote: Hey This iPhone Universal Remote Doesn’t Suck. He wrote, “I’ve tossed my old remote behind me. I don’t need that sucker, using the iPhone and Beacon is just as fast.”

Gizmodo has started our week off perfectly since they have selected Beacon as the best universal iPhone remote! We’re equally proud of our partner Dijit, who developed the free app. Did you catch Robert Scoble’s interview with Dijit?

The verdict is out

The verdict is out, Beacon is the best! If only we could find some cake to celebrate.

Have you tried Beacon yet? What do you think of it?

Get Beacon and let us know.

A-Frame Industrial Design Excellence Award finalist! Each year the Industrial Designers Society of American (IDSA) reveals their hottest designs in their International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA).

This year we are very proud to be included in the list of finalists for our popular A-Frame, iPad stand.

The IDSA site describes A-Frame…

A-Frame is a sturdy, beautiful aluminum stand for the iPad. It supports the iPad in both portrait or landscape views—perfect for watching video or viewing pictures. Close A-Frame’s easel and lay it down to hold the iPad at the perfect angle for desktop or tabletop surfing, reading or gaming. A built-in soft cushion cradles the iPad and leaves room for its sync cable.

We’re especially proud of our industrial design team for creating such a stellar product. Way to go!

Do you use A-Frame? What do you think of it?
