Video Display Converter Here’s how to watch (and hear) your MacBook Pro on your television.

Previously, the MacBook and MacBook Pro had a Mini DisplayPort that sent video only. You could use our Video Display Adapter to convert this video signal to HDMI (or DVI.) However, you needed to additionally connect the Mac’s headphone jack to your stereo to receive the audio.

The MacBook Pro that was released this month does output audio as well as video from its Mini DisplayPort. This is great news! It means that with ONLY our Converter, both video and audio are sent to the HDMI cable, and that’s the only cable going to your TV.

If you have a new MacBook Pro and our Video Display Converter, go to System Preferences; Sound and choose HDMI as your Output device.

Thanks to Scott Stein and Sarah Tew at CNET for their coverage too!

If your MacBook Pro was released before April 2010, to receive audio, you’ll need to connect to your stereo receiver using an audio cable like our Aux Cable or StereoConnect Cables.

Calling all betatesters Application Design Assessment Engineers…

Do you love tinkering with stuff ’til it breaks? Yeah? Then, have we got a deal for you.

We’ve been hard at work on our venerable and esteemed PowerMate software to optimize it for Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and we think we’ve got a solid candidate lined up. This is where you come in. It’s time for it to prove its mettle in the real world. Or at least that part of the real world where betatesting takes place.

We need 50 volunteers

We need 50 volunteers to put the new, new, newer than new PowerMate software through its paces. To accept this mission, in addition to being in tip-top mental and physical condition (not really), you must be running Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard); and you must be in possession of both a PowerMate USB controller and an adventurous soul. You must keep reasonably detailed records of your beta experience. (And send them to us. Word.)

Note: This is a beta test. Make sure all beta test gear is locked and loaded, and beta test mode is fully enabled. Know your beta test gear and know it well; it can save your life. Standard disclaimers apply: We do not recommend running beta software on the machine that contains the only viable copy of your nearly-finished doctoral dissertation. As always, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Good luck, Jim.

Email us with your contact details for more information. THANK YOU!

To celebrate our final Throwback Thursday, we are dropping prices on many of our most popular accessories for iPod Classic. You should drop by the sale page now to take advantage of what’s up for grabs while items are available.

They called it the classic.

And let’s face it, what else could you call it? For all the innovations offered by the iPod touch and the iPod nano, even Apple had to admit that they got it right the first time. So much storage that even a completist like you could fit their whole library on there with room to spare, and a lightning quick interface that makes it easy to scroll through all your favorites, from ABBA to The Zombies and everything in between. These days, it’s easy to feel like the world’s forgotten about the humble iPod classic, but we haven’t.

iPod Classic

Want to win a slightly used 80 GB iPod Classic?

Leave us a comment below and tell us how the iPod Classic changed our lives. The winner will also receive a (new) iClear case.

Read the rules and leave us a comment to enter. We’ll pick a winner on Wednesday after 12pm Central. Good luck!

Congratulations to Frank A who won last week’s Throwback Thursday Sansa giveaway.
