Griffin Buzz

Anyone who is following a large number of people on Twitter should be used to the amount of Twitter phishing schemes occurring lately. I’m constantly receiving suspicious direct messages (DMs). You should never click links that seem strange, you should also never give anyone your cell number.

That all said. If you do click a link, because you simply can’t resist, watch out for this!

*** Always look at the URL on the page you’re sent to. ***

This is not Twitter.com that you would be logging in to. Those that fall for this give their username and passwords away. So if you receive strange DMs from people you actually know, this is likely how it’s happened.

Avoid Twitter Scams

Avoid Twitter Scams

This type of phishing scam happens in many different ways such as banking, Ebay and PayPal. Be careful what you click and always look at that domain, if it’s not www.twitter.com it’s not legitimate.

The other trick is to login to Twitter and click Settings and Connections. Have a look at what applications you’ve given third parties permission to. If there’s something there suspicious or that you’re simply not using click Revoke Access.

By following these tips you’ll help reduce the amount of spam and scams on Twitter. Here’s a great resource for other ways to be sure you’re secure.

Geoffrey's Memory GameI have two toddlers at home who keep stealing my iPhone. I’ve got an entire page dedicated to apps for children, it’s my own fault.

I have yet to come across a great memory game. That’s why I’m so proud of our recent partnership and development of the Toys”R”Us Geoffrey’s Memory Game app.

The free app is a new spin on the classic card matching game. It allows kids to test their memorization skills, flipping over cards in an attempt to find a matching picture. On a side note, my kid’s memories are way better than mine!

The game has three levels of difficulty, it’s fun and simple to use. You can grab it now for free from the iTunes App Store.

And If you’re a grown up with a poor memory here’s 60 tips to improve yours. I just keep forgetting to visit the page. :)

We’re bursting at the seams in excitement about announcing our second Co-Op Initiative partnership with Threadless, the coolest tee shirt company on the interwebs.  We love Threadless so much that we’re putting two of your favorite designs on iPhone cases!

Griffin Marketing in our Threadless tees

Threadless is not your average tee shirt company. The designs are sourced from an ongoing open-call for tee shirt submissions from a worldwide community of amazing artists and designers. The Threadless community of over 1 million members casts votes that help decide which designs become tee shirts.

We’re thrilled to be partnering with Threadless and producing two from a selection of their most popular designs, Clouds within the Thunder and Birds of a Feather. The 1mm (not-so) thick, single-piece polycarbonate shell snaps on to provide protection from scratches, dust and boringness for your iPhone 3G and 3GS.

Kudos to Ross Zietz and Joe Van Wetering for their most amazing designs!

Like their corresponding tee shirts, these cases will only be available while quantities last. Our guess is that they will be gone before you can say “awesome”. Go grab one now. There’s no need to worry, however, as more Griffin+Threadless cases are on their way. This is only the beginning.

Earlier this year we registered to exhibit at CES. It’s going to be great to be back in Vegas for the nation’s largest consumer technology tradeshow, January 7 – 10.

The one thing is that the flight from Nashville, TN to Las Vegas, NV is about three long hours. I don’t know about you, but being crammed in a plane for three hours with weak coffee and no leg room doesn’t sound like much fun. So we came up with an alternative plan, and we’re calling it CES BOUND.
CES Bound | Road Trip Nashville to Las Vegas

We buy a bus, fix it up and do a road trip to Vegas! Why be crammed in a plane for three hours, when we can be crammed in a bus for 120 hours (give or take)? Surely we’ll find better coffee on the road than at 30,000 feet in the air, right? Besides, how can we ask a pilot to land in several cities to meet with you?

What could possibly go wrong for five Griffin peeps traveling in a 37 year old VW Westfalia bus across 2,476 miles?

Have you ever done a long road trip? Where to? Do you have any tips?
