There’s an interesting post on Gizmodo about the impending death of the desktop PC. John Herrman writes:

Stephen Baker, an analyst for industry watchers NPD, shared with me a wider picture of how retail PC sales break down. The way he put it made measuring the rise and fall of sales percentages seem dumb—there really aren’t any sales to lose: “In US retail, 80% of sales are notebooks now,” he said. “Start throwing in stuff like iMacs and all-in-ones”—which share more hardware DNA with laptops and netbooks than traditional desktops—”and it gets even higher.”

The majority of people I work with have notebooks.

What do you think? What are you using most these days, your desktop machine or a notebook?

iTalk Recorder App

With iPhone’s latest 3.0 OS Voice Memos application, there’s been talk in twitterland and the blogosphere about the future of our iTalk Recorder app.

After a look at our statistics, we can happily report that unique users went up substantially since the launch of 3.0. Daily sales of iTalk Recorder Premium have also steadily increased.

I came across a great post about the comparison of both voice recording apps by Bakari Chavanu from Apple Matters. Chavanu writes:

The number one missing feature in Voice Memo is the ability to title your individual voice recordings. You can assign recordings to a particular category, such as lectures or reminders, but each of your recordings is stamped only with the time and date you started the recording.

You can read Chavanu’s full comparison in his post iTalk vs. Voice Memo.

I should add that we are working on some new features that will make iTalk unquestionably cooler. If you’re already loving iTalk, you should drop by here to say hello.

Congratulations to Chris Peters for winning our $500 Griffin Shopping Spree

Congratulations to Chris Peters for winning our $500 Griffin Technology Shopping Spree!

We asked you what feature you were most excited about in the new iPhone 3G S. Chris’ comment was randomly selected, here’s what he wrote:

Just got mine this morning. I still had an original iPhone from 2 years ago. But there are actually two features that impressed me.

First, GPS is so freaking cool when your new to having it all the time in your pocket. The Compass will also help give me the excuse to be a true man and never ask for directions.

Second, the video camera is amazing! Quality is better than a $250 JVC SD Camcorder my mother in law just bought. The video feature was what helped me convince the wife that these were worth the money (she’s getting one too, her 1st.)

See we have a newborn little girl and we don’t have a video camera. Our Nikon D40 takes awesome “planned” stills. But for the cute, embarrassing, spontaneous, unexpected moments the iPhone 3G S’s camera is beyond perfect. We will always have our phones so there for we don’t have an excuse not to have video of her many first’s.

For us this feature made the new iPhone a no brainer.

Thank you to everyone who entered. We’ll be doing more giveaways and promotions soon, so stay tuned. Be sure to subscribe to our RSS feed and follow us on Twitter for news.
